Save The Tiger Fund Evaluation

The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation is committed to evaluating the performance of all of its investments. All grantees are now required to use a logic framework model that explains what the predicted outputs of project activities will be. For more detailed explanations of terms, frequently asked questions etc. please visit the Foundation’s evaluation website.

We encourage grantees to quantify their outputs and to monitor the effects of their actions using meaningful biological indicators such as tiger density. The Foundation is aware that in the real world, these predictions are very difficult to make, and in these cases a simple directional outcomes could be used e.g. tiger density increases over 3 year period. Alternatively, one could provide an estimate that incorporates the measures of uncertainty e.g. number of tigers in landscape increases from present-day baseline of 40-50 individuals to 50-80 individuals within 3 years.

Please see these online examples of logic frameworks for tiger projects:

1) Siberian Tiger Protection Efforts in 2006 (Phoenix Fund)

2) Curbing Big Cat Skin Market in Tibet, China (WWF China)

3) Monitoring Amur Tigers 2005-2006 (WCS)
