Party is the cat's meow

Emma's Birthday PartyEmma Kowalchuck (in a tiger suit, no hat) and 28 other children have a roaring good time at her tiger-themed sixth birthday party. The Long Island, N.Y., girl asked her guests to donate money for tiger conservation in lieu of gifts. In doing so, she raised $446, which she gladly gave to Save The Tiger Fund.

"Emma has really become an animal person," says her mother, Leslie Brennan. " She was inspired by the Save The Tiger Fund website and decided that tigers were her favorite big cat."

Party guests got to pet nearly 20 animals including a large snake and a fox, courtesy of a Long Island firm that educates people about wildlife and habitat conservation. They were also treated to a tiger cake, animal-related crafts and a National Geographic special about endangered animals. "Emma continues to be interested in rescuing endangered animals, " her mother says. "She's just as enthusiastic as ever."
