Funding Our Initiatives

The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation addresses the most critical wildlife and habitat conservation issues through initiatives developed to focus the Foundation's resources and expertise to achieve a significant positive impact. Learn more about the Foundation's current funding initiatives or make a gift to advance these initiatives.

Bird Conservation

The Foundation has been making strides in bird conservation and taken a lead role in efforts to conserve some of the most endangered birds to bring them back from the brink.

Fish Conservation

According to recent studies, the nation has lost 20 percent of our fish and aquatic populations and nearly 40 percent of the nation's native fish populations are in rapid decline. In 2006 the Foundation launched the More Fish Campaign to help restore abundant and healthy populations of fish and aquatic species to our nation’s waters.

Marine and Coastal Conservation

From the Pacific to the Caribbean, the Foundation awarded more than $17 million in the last year to protect unique coastal and marine habitats and species.

Save The Tiger Fund

Today, only 6 of 9 tiger subspecies remain, and there are fewer than 5,000 wild tigers in the wild. Since its launch in 1995, the Save The Tiger Fund has supported 300 projects in 13 out of the 14 tiger range countries with $15 million through a partnership between ExxonMobil Foundation, the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund, and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. The general public has also played an important role.

Wildlife and Habitat Conservation

Conservation of wildlife and habitat is central to the mission of the Foundation. Last year the Foundation awarded more than $40 million in grants to support the protection and restoration of wildlife and critical habitat.  Learn more about funding this initiative.
