Purpose
The Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie Restoration Fund is a partnership between the U.S.D.A. Forest Service and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. This partnership will provide grants for projects that benefit the restoration of the Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie. Specifically, the fund seeks projects that will:

  • Strengthen the link between local communities and the Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie.
  • Encourage innovative, locally-based programs or projects that protect or restore important habitats and/or improve water quality within the Midewin watershed.
  • Provide opportunities for environmental education and stewardship.

Project Area
Grants from this fund are limited to projects that will work on the Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie or will have direct benefit to Midewin. This includes the portion of Will County, IL constituting the Midewin watershed, including the watersheds of: Prairie Creek, Grant Creek, Jackson Creek and Jordan Creek.
