Save The Tiger Fund (STF) is a partnership program between the
ExxonMobil Foundation and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation
(NFWF) established in 1995 focused on the conservation of wild tigers.
Major funding for STF is provided by ExxonMobil Foundation and NFWF
administers the program. This year, STF is pleased to be partnering with
Panthera to increase critical support necessary to stem the loss of
tigers in several key landscapes through a co-funding mechanism. STF
provides support to projects that clearly demonstrate measurable
outcomes in terms of protecting wild tigers and their population
recovery. Apply Now | Read the RFP

Tiger Watch - Summer 2009
Visiting Panna: Tigers without
sanctuary
After years of poaching, the
Panna Tiger Reserve in India announced that it no longer had any
tigers left. Brian Gratwicke, an alum of Save the Tiger Fund,
arrived at Panna soon after, and reflected on the dire
announcement. Read
more.
Why Did Tigers Go Missing in Panna?
The Indian government released a
report this summer finding that the Panna Tiger Reserve, created as one
of the last save havens for India’s wild tigers, could not find a
single tiger. This is a concerning turn of events, and we wish that it
came as a complete surprise. Read

Ride the Tiger

Originally published in 1999, Riding The Tiger:
tiger conservation in human-dominated landscapes is the seminal work on tiger
conservation, tackling the issues in tiger conservation across their
range. It deals with tiger conservation issues in all 14 tiger
range countries and has been translated into Russian and Bahasa
Indonesian. The topics covered include genetics, ecology, estimating
tiger populations using camera-traps, policy recommendations and how to
tackle the illegal international problem of trafficking in tiger
parts.
Given the significance and importance of this
publication in the field of tiger conservation, Save The Tiger Fund and
the Zoological Society of London decided to scan the book electronically
and make it available for download through its website. Hopefully
increasing the accessibility of the information contained in this book
will ensure that it reaches an even wider audience and helps people to
understand the complexities of tiger ecology and conservation. Read

We live in a complex world and the threats to
tigers are numerous. Save The Tiger Fund implements a multifaceted
approach to conservation to address the causes of the decline in
tiger populations: poaching, conflicts between forest communities and
tigers, habitat fragmentation and degradation.
