UPDATE: ASEAN-WEN Pattaya Conference
ASEAN estimates that trafficking of wildlife
across Asia is worth more than $10 billion, second only to their
estimates of weapons and drug smuggling as a major source of illegal
activity in the region.
To address the threat of poaching, the Save The Tiger Fund played a
crucial role to convene experts and representatives from 21 countries,
12 intergovernmental organizations, and 29 non-governmental
organizations this spring to reduce the threat of poaching that is
decimating wild tiger populations in Asia. Continue

Save the Tiger Grant Awards--2009

In March 2009, Save The Tiger Fund's Council approved grants for
$561,886, leveraging additional funds totaling $1.3 million for tiger
conservation. Since its establishment in 1995, Save The Tiger Fund has
invested over $17.7 million in nearly 350 tiger conservation projects in
13 tiger range countries. Continue

Galen Helps Tigers and Himself
Galen was recently diagnosed with autism in the past
month. Galen attends school in Ontario Canada. For his Grade 3
science project, Galen decided to research tigers. Through this research
he learned of the real threats that tigers face, and became sadden and
very upset. His teaching aid showed him how other children on the
Save The Tiger Fund website were motivated to raise money for the tigers
by volunteering and seeking donations. Continue

conflicts between forest communities and tigers, and habitat

The Global Tiger Initative: One year on
The World Bank and Smithsonian Institute began the Global Tiger
Initiative one year ago with the help of the Save the Tiger Fund. This
initiative is conducting a series of meetings to create a plan for
working with civil society through regional partnerships, and the impact
of trade and finance on tiger conservation.
